Blackhawks Recall Ville Pokka, Assign Viktor Svedberg To Rockford

(CBS) Nearly 24 hours before opening puck drop at the United Center, the Blackhawks have finalized their roster with a move.

Chicago has recalled defenseman Ville Pokka from AHL Rockford and assigned defenseman Viktor Svedberg to the IceHogs, the team announced.

Pokka, 21, has yet to play in an NHL game. He joined Rockford last season and recorded eight goals and 22 assists in 68 games with the IceHogs.

Also a rookie, Svedberg has yet to take the NHL ice. The 6-foot-9 defenseman tallied three points in 84 games with Rockford the past two seasons.

In an expected move, Chicago also placed defenseman Michal Rozsival on the long-term injured reserve.

The Blackhawks open the season on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. against the New York Rangers. The team will raise the banner for its 2015 Stanley Cup championship prior to action.
