Blackhawks Recall Defenseman Viktor Svedberg
(CBS) In an anticipated move, the Blackhawks have recalled defenseman Viktor Svedberg from AHL Rockford, they announced Thursday.
In a corresponding move, Chicago sent defenseman Ville Pokka to Rockford. Svedberg was sent down to Rockford leading up to Wednesday's season opener because the Blackhawks had to make some maneuvers for salary cap purposes.
Svedberg will compete to be on the third line of defense. The Blackhawks dropped their season opener 3-2 to the Rangers on Wednesday. Chicago plays at the New York Islanders on Friday night.
In another move Thursday, the Blackhawks reassigned forward Corey Tropp from AHL Rockford to AHL Albany.
