Blackhawks In Line To Start Western Finals On Sunday

(CBS) Nothing is official from the NHL, but by all indications, it appears the Blackhawks will open the Western Conference Finals on Sunday.

NHL commissioners Gary Bettman told WFAN that Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Rangers and the winner of tonight's Bruins-Canadiens Game 7 will be played Saturday. In NBCsports.com's TV schedule, it then lists a "TBA" conference finals series beginning Sunday with a 2 p.m. CT start time.

Teams traditionally don't play on back-to-back days in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Blackhawks await the winner of the Ducks-Kings series. Anaheim leads the series 3-2, with Game 6 set for tonight in Los Angeles.

The Ducks would have home-ice advantage against the Blackhawks, who would hold the home-ice advantage against he Kings.
