Blackhawks Extend Trevor van Riemsdyk's Deal Through 2017-'18

(CBS) After a solid 2014-'15 season in which he earned a roster spot with a strong training camp and then overcame injuries to contribute during the Stanley Cup title run, Blackhawks defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk has signed a two-year extension with Chicago and is now under contract through the end of the 2017-'18 season.

van Riemsdyk's annual cap hit will be $825,000, according to the Tribune.

The 23-year-old van Riemsdyk had one assist in 18 regular-season games last year and played in four Stanley Cup Final games. He's one of five defensemen returning for the Blackhawks from last season. Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, Niklas Hjalmarsson and David Rundblad are the others.
