The Chicago Blackhawks have missed the playoffs for a fifth straight year, mostly under the watch of General Manager Kyle Davidson.

The Blackhawks fired head coach Luke Richardson in December, and Anders Sörensen has been at the helm on an interim basis since. Davidson needs to hire a permanent head coach, and he also has to decide if he wants to re-sign Connor Bedard early.

Bedard is eligible for a rookie contract extension this summer. He is trying to quash constant rumors that he wants out of Chicago.

"I've said it 100 times, I mean, I love it here, and I have a great relationship with Kyle and everyone, so it's a special sports town, and you know, we've got a lot of really great players coming up," Bedard said. "We really trust the direction we're going."

The Blackhawks ended their season with a 4-3 victory over the Ottawa Senators in overtime on Tuesday night.
