Blackhawks Activate Kris Versteeg

(CBS) As expected, the Blackhawks have activated winger Kris Versteeg so that he can return for tonight's contest against the Canucks at the United Center.

In a corresponding move, Chicago sent forward Joakim Nordstrom to AHL Rockford.

Versteeg has been out since New Year's Day when he fractured his left hand in Chicago's Winter Classic game at Washington. He had a successful procedure in January to repair the damage and has missed 16 games while recovering.

Prior to the injury, Versteeg had nine goals and 18 assists, meshing well on the Blackhawks' second line with Brad Richards and Patrick Kane.
