Biker Airlifted To Hospital After Crashing Into Truck

RICHMOND, Ill. (STMW) -- A man was ejected from his motorcycle Saturday after making contact with a Freightliner truck in northwest suburban Richmond.

The incident happened at 5:18 p.m. in the 3900 block of U.S. Route 12, according to a statement from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office. The Freightliner was heading eastbound when it was struck by a motorcycle travelling westbound, police said.

The 19-year-old motorcyclist has been identified as Kyle A. Marriner, according to the statement. He was flown by Flight for Life to Advocate Condell Medical Center in north suburban Libertyville where he is in critical condition.

The sheriff's office said the area where the crash occurred was "clearly marked as a no passing zone in both directions."

Marriner was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and alcohol is not thought to have played a factor, according to the sheriff's office.

The crash is under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office Accident Investigation Unit.
