Bicyclist Dies After Being Hit By Semi Truck In Skokie

(STMW) -- A bicyclist was killed after a semi truck hit him in north suburban Skokie Friday night.

At 4:58 p.m., James C. Hinton, 43, was riding his bicycle on Howard Street heading eastbound when a semi truck hit him in the intersection of Howard Street and McCormick Boulevard, according to a statement from Skokie police.

Hinton, of the 900 block of Elmwood Street in Evanston, was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston where he was pronounced dead at 5:42 p.m., according to the statement and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

An autopsy Saturday found he died of multiple injuries after the semi truck hit him, and his death was ruled an accident.

It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. Skokie Police are investigating the incident.
