Best Motorcycle Trips Around Chicagoland

Motorcycle riders are always looking for that perfect trip that can make their riding season a success. Whether a motorcyclist is looking for that long, flat stretch of road or the road that curves and climbs, there are motorcycle trips around the Chicagoland area that will meet the needs of every motorcyclist. There are a plethora of excellent motorcycle trips to take in Illinois, but here are the best around Chicagoland.

Big Rock To Starved Rock

The approximate 71-mile trip is a beautiful, scenic ride, especially during the fall when the foliage has turned into a stunning mix of yellows, reds, and oranges. Utica is a town along the way and it is a biker’s dream stop. If traveling on the weekend, plan on a very busy town with an abundance of bikers-it is a great town to stop for a bite to eat during you trip. Starved Rock State Park, voted the number one attraction in the state of Illinois, has numerous trails and a beautiful view of the river; it is an excellent destination spot.

Around Lake Michigan

This trip is approximately 1068 miles, so plan on traveling for at least a few days. Motorcyclist will have the pleasure of viewing beautiful Lake Michigan and also traveling through multiple states, which include Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan and Indiana. There are many good dining establishments along the way, finding a place to stretch your legs and taking a break should not be a problem. 

Lake Peoria Loop

The Lake Peoria Loop is approximately 274 miles that will take motorcyclist past Starved Rock State Park and right along beautiful Lake Peoria. Starved Rock State Park has numerous trails that can be climbed, and it is an outstanding place to stop and take a break from riding if needed. The highlight of this trip is the excellent roads; they are smooth and curvy; perfect for bikers. On this trip, you'll pass lakes, historic landmarks, forest, parks, rivers, and farmland. There are also excellent place to stop along the way to eat while taking in great views of the scenery.

Elgin To Oregon, IL

This scenic and relaxing motorcycle trip is approximately 123 miles of beautiful Illinois scenery. Route 2 is the road that will entice the eyes; the surroundings are always nice but, in terms of foliage in the fall, it is breathtaking. Along Route 33, bikers should stop off at Lowden State Park and the Blackhawk Statue. Oregon, IL has a lot of history scattered through out the town, and taking the time to visit the area will not disappoint.

Aurora To Galena

Those looking to see wonderful farm country will enjoy this motorcycle trip of approximately 330 miles. The hills are minimal, making it a pleasurable ride. Not only are the roads excellent to ride on, but the views are amazing as well. Bikers will be able to see the Fox River and the Mississippi River along the way. Galena is a fantastic town rich in history and visiting the town will be sure to not disappoint with plenty of great place to get a bite to eat and enjoy some shopping at the boutique shops. If an overnight stay is needed, Galena has nice in-town hotels.
