Bensenville Man Charged With Sexual Assault Of Handicapped Brother-In-Law

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A northwest suburban man accused of sexually assaulting his mentally handicapped brother-in-law has been ordered held on a $350,000 bond.

John Cegielski, 76, was charged with criminal sexual assault, according to a statement from the DuPage County state's attorney's office.

Cegielski shares a home with several family members, one of whom requires a live-in nurse, and his 60-year-old mentally handicapped brother-in-law, according to prosecutors.

About 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, the nurse went to the basement of the home and found Cegielski sexually assaulting his brother-in-law, prosecutors said. She immediately contacted authorities and Cegielski was arrested.

Judge Richard Russo set bond at $350,000 in court Thursday. Cegielski is next scheduled to appear in court Jan. 11.
