(CBS) Hours before the NFL Draft begins, the Bears have added to their roster.

Chicago has signed safety Malcolm Bronson to a two-year deal, the team announced Thursday evening. The 24-year-old Bronson participated in the Bears' minicamp on a tryout and was given the new deal by new general manager Ryan Pace.

Bronson was undrafted out of McNeese State in 2013 and signed by the Chiefs. He spent the 2013 season with Kansas City before being released prior to the start of the 2014 season.

A 5-foot-11, 192-pound safety, Bronson had 230 tackles and 10 interceptions in 40 games with McNeese State.

The NFL Draft is set to begin on Thursday night, with the Bears holding the seventh pick.
