Bears Sign QB Dalyn Williams, Waive QB Matt Blanchard

(CBS) The Bears have signed quarterback Dalyn Williams and waived quarterback Matt Blanchard, they announced Thursday.

An undrafted rookie out of Dartmouth, Williams threw for 7,458 yards and 56 touchdowns in his four-year college career. He's made the team after attending a recent mini-camp on a rookie tryout. Williams figures to compete for the No. 3 job with David Fales behind starter Jay Cutler and backup Brian Hoyer.

Blanchard had rejoined the Bears in 2015, but he didn't appear in any regular-season games. He was no longer eligible for the practice squad. He originally entered the league in 2012 by signing with the Bears as an undrafted free agent.
