Bears Sign CB Alan Ball To 1-Year Deal

(CBS) The Bears have signed cornerback Alan Ball to a one-year deal, they announced Friday.

Ball will likely figure into the battle for the nickelback spot behind Kyle Fuller and Tim Jennings. An eight-year NFL veteran, Ball began his career with the Cowboys, played one season for the Texans and then spent the last two years with the Jaguars.

Ball had 22 tackles and one interception in 2014, but he was limited to seven games, all of which he started, because of a biceps injury. He has played in 93 career games, starting 44. He has six career interceptions.

Ball is a University of Illinois product.
