Bears Sign 2 New Players In Minor Roster Shuffling

(CBS) The Bears signed veteran running back Daniel Thomas in a series of minor roster moves Thursday.

Chicago also signed safety Sherrod Martin and waived kicker Jeremiah Detmer, quarterback Pat Devlin and tight end Jacob Maxwell. Thomas and Martin had tryouts for the Bears this week before being signed.

Thomas, 27, spent his first four NFL seasons with the Dolphins. He rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games last season, with an averaged of 3.8 yards per carry. He also caught 13 passes for 121 yards.

He was originally a second-round pick in the 2011 draft.

Martin, 30, is a five-year veteran of the NFL. He played for Jacksonville last season, appearing in 13 games with two starts and collecting 14 tackles and one interception. He was originally a second-round pick in the 2009 draft.
