Bears Rookie Tackle Tayo Fabuluje Suspended 4 Games

By Chris Emma--

(CBS) Bears rookie tackle Tayo Fabuluje has been suspended four games without pay for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing drugs. Fabuluje confirmed that the banned substance was a dietary pill that he was unaware was against NFL drug policy.

The suspension of Fabuluje begins immediately, and he's eligible to return on Monday, Dec. 7, following the Bears' contest with the 49ers the day before.

Following the announcement, Fabulue released a statement:

"I was recently informed that I tested positive for an amphetamine after taking a supplement that did not list any banned substances on the label.  As a result, I will be serving a four game suspension.  Although it was not intentional, and I would never knowingly take a banned substance, I recognize that I am ultimately responsible as an NFL player for everything that goes in my body.  I sincerely apologize to my teammates, the Chicago Bears organization and our fans and can't wait to come back and contribute to my team."

A sixth-round pick in the 2015 draft, Fabuluje has yet to play at tackle, but he has worked in with the field goal unit and in goal-line situations. He had been active in each of the Bears' games with the exception of Monday's win in San Diego.

Fabuluje, a 6-foot-6, 342-pounder, projects to fight for playing time next season at left tackle.
