Bears QB Jay Cutler Remains Sidelined From Practice

By Chris Emma--

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (CBS) -- Bears coach John Fox continues to insist that quarterback Jay Cutler's status is "day-to-day," but Wednesday wasn't that day.

Cutler remained sidelined from Bears practice as he mends a shoulder injury. Fox and the team remain hopeful that Cutler could still return before season's end, opting to keep him from injury reserve.

Cutler suffered the shoulder injury during the Bears' loss to the Giants on Nov. 20. The Bears haven't officially commented on the extent of the injury, but multiple reports have suggested that it's a partially torn labrum.

Matt Barkley, who began the season as the team's fourth-string quarterback, is preparing to make his second straight start.
