Bears QB Jay Cutler Could Miss Remainder Of Season With Shoulder Injury

By Chris Emma--

(CBS) Bears quarterback Jay Cutler's season could be coming to an early end after he suffered a shoulder injury.

Coach John Fox confirmed that the team will know more about the extent to Cutler's injury by Wednesday, speaking on his weekly radio show on WBBM Newsradio 780. Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune first reported the details to Cutler's injury, citing multiple sources. Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that it's a torn labrum for Cutler.

Cutler was roughed up in the Bears' 22-16 loss to the Giants on Sunday, but he finished the game 17-of-30 for 252 yards with a touchdown and interception.

On Cutler's final throw of the game, a second-and-29 play in the final two minutes of the game, his plant foot slipped and his throw fell well short of the intended target and into the arms of Giants safety Landon Collins.

All indications are that 2016 could be the final season for Cutler in a Bears uniform. Perhaps his final throw will be the interception to thwart the Bears' chance at victory Sunday.

Fox will provide more details when he speaks to the media again on Wednesday at Halas Hall. However, the Bears could place Cutler on injured reserve as early as Tuesday should they consider that to be the best option.
