Bears Place WR Wilson On IR With Designation To Return

(CBS) The Bears have placed receiver Marquess Wilson on the injured reserve/designated to return list, they announced Tuesday. Wilson suffered a broken collarbone in training camp and was expected to miss at least several weeks at the start of the season.

Those placed on the IR/designated to return list are eligible to return prior to their team's ninth game. Chicago's bye comes in Week 9, so Wilson should be able to return for the Week 10 game at Green Bay on Nov. 9, assuming he's healthy by then. He can start practicing with the team in Week 7.

Teams can only place one player on the IR/designated to return list, so no other Bear can go on it now. It's a designation that can be used on a player who makes the final 53-man roster and is expected to have a long-term but not season-ending injury.

Wilson is entering his second pro season after having two receptions last year. Before suffering a broken right collarbone while diving for a pass on Aug. 4 during a practice, he had the inside track to being Chicago's No. 3 receiver.

In another move Tuesday, the Bears have re-signed cornerback Kelvin Hayden, who they had cut over the weekend to get down to their 53-man roster. He then took over Wilson's spot on the active roster.
