Bears Place Ryan Mundy On Season-Ending IR

(CBS) The Bears on Sunday have placed safety Ryan Mundy on season-ending injured reserve with a hip injury.

Now in his second season with Chicago, Mundy started 16 games last season while recording 103 tackles and four interceptions. Rookie Adrian Amos has filled in his place during much of the preseason.

While the Bears have dealt with many injuries this preseason, Mundy is the first to see his season end on IR.

Additionally, the Bears released former Pro Bowl cornerback Tim Jennings on Sunday, this prior to many roster cuts. Chicago must narrow its roster to 75 players by Tuesday and 53 on Saturday.

Chicago finishes the preseason Thursday against Cleveland at Soldier Field and opens the regular season on Sept. 13 against Green Bay.
