Bears Have A Better Mathematical Chance Of Nabbing No. 1 Pick Than Reaching The Playoffs
(CBS) The Bears have never reached the playoffs after starting a season 0-2, according to ESPN State & Info. With a 29-14 loss to Philadelphia on Monday night, Chicago has now done that for the 20th time in franchise history.
It's with that sobering background that we relay you this: The Bears have better mathematical odds of nabbing the No. 1 draft pick than reaching the playoffs.
Chicago has a 7 percent chance of reaching the playoffs, per fivethirtyeight.com. On the bright side -- is that how it should be termed? -- the Bears have the fourth-highest odds of nabbing the No. 1 pick in the 2017 draft, per ESPN Stats and Info. Chicago ranks behind Cleveland (the runaway No. 1 pick favorite at 45 percent), Jacksonville and Tennessee.
