Bears' Ego Ferguson Suspended 4 Games For Taking Banned Substance

By Chris Emma--

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (CBS) -- Bears defensive lineman Ego Ferguson has been suspended four games for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing drugs. Ferguson is currently on season-ending IR, but his suspension begins immediately and works through the games he won't play.

Ferguson won't be paid for those four games.

No statement has been released from Ferguson. He's the third Bears player this week to receive a suspension.

Bears rookie offensive tackle Tayo Fabuluje was also suspended for four games for taking performance-enhancing drugs, with his being an over-the-counter dietary substance that he said he took without knowledge it was a banned substance.

Practice squad receiver Jalen Saunders was also suspended four games, his being an undisclosed violation, according to reports.

A second-year defensive lineman out of LSU, Ferguson played four games this season, recording three tackles.

The Bears take on the Rams on Sunday in St. Louis, the first game of Ferguson's suspension.
