Barrington Students With Special Needs Elected Homecoming King, Queen

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The election of Talia Kotel and Matt Rodgers brought people to tears.

Kotel and Rodgers both have Down Syndrome, and were elected homecoming king and queen overwhemlingly by their peers at Barrington High School.

The announcement was made during an all-school pep assembly on Friday.

Students cheered, cried and embraced the duo as the results were announced.

They will ride in a horse-drawn carriage down Barrington's Main Street on Saturday when the homecoming parade begins at 10:15 a.m.

They will also be honored at halftime of the homecoming football game, beginning at 1 p.m.
