Barricade Situation Prompts Lockdown At Batavia Schools

(STMW) -- Two schools in Batavia are on a soft lockdown Tuesday afternoon as police respond to a person barricaded inside a home in the west suburb.

Someone is barricaded inside a home in the 800 block of Roberts Lane, a Kane County sheriff's office spokesman announced about 3 p.m. No one has been injured and the person was thought to be alone, police said.

Batavia High School at 1201 Main St. was on soft lockdown as of 1:50 p.m., as was Alice Gustafson Elementary School at 905 Carlisle Road, according to school statements.

All students are safe and parents were told not to pick up their children until the lockdown is lifted.

The Kane County Regional SWAT team is assisting. No other details were released.
