CHICAGO (CBS) -- A male barricaded himself inside a Portage Park neighborhood home for more than six hours early Sunday, prompting a Chicago Police SWAT response on the Northwest Side.

Police responded about 12:55 a.m. to the home in the 5500 block of West Byron Street, where a male suspect was barricaded inside, according to police.

The male, whose age was not known, surrendered himself without incident about 7:15 a.m., police said. He was taken to Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center for a mental health evaluation.

No injuries were reported and police said Sunday morning no charges were expected to be filed.
