Barack Obama Was Cool With The Warriors Blowing A 3-1 Lead, Because It Cements Legacy Of 1995-'96 Bulls

(CBS) A noted Chicago sports fan, President Barack Obama on Thursday revealed why he was subtlety rooting for the Cavaliers to defeat the Warriors in the NBA Finals last June.

It of course had to do with Obama's Bulls of yesteryear.

"A team for the first time in NBA history comes back from being down 3-1 in the Finals," Obama said of the Cavaliers rallying past the Warriors in stunning fashion. "The first team in history to dig themselves out of a hole like that. And I should add that by knocking off the Warriors, they cemented the 1996 Bulls as the greatest team of all time. So your president thanks you for that."

The 2015-'16 Warriors went 73-9, breaking the 1995-'96 Bulls' record of 72 single-season wins. With a title, Golden State would've staked a strong claim to being the best team ever.

Without it, the Warriors have simply been the butt of many 3-1 jokes.
