Baker's 3 Helps Northern Illinois Top Wright State, 65-59

DEKALB, Ill. (AP) — Travon Baker made a 3-pointer to give Northern Illinois a 5-point lead with 19 seconds left, and the Huskies' defense put the clamps on late en route to a 65-59 win over Wright State on Sunday.

Mark Alstork made two free throws for the Raiders to tie it at 59-all with 1:19 remaining. On the next possession, Huskies (3-0) senior Aaric Armstead was fouled on a 3-pointer with just 2 seconds left on the shot clock, and made 2 of 3 attempts.

JT Yoho missed a deep 3-point attempt for Wright State (1-2), and Baker came off a ball screen set by Michael Orris to nail the 3 and give Northern Illinois a two-possession lead.

Baker made 3 3-pointers and finished with 12 points. Armstead had 18 on 5-of-9 shooting.

Wright State was 1 for its last 10 and made just six second-half field goals after a 15-of-28 first half. Yoho led with 16 points.
