The attic was on fire, and crews went into the house to search for residents who were possibly trapped inside.

The roof collapsed while the firefighters were in the house, and one firefighter was taken from the scene in serious-to-critical condition, officials said.

"The good news – he is in stable condition and appears to be doing well," said CFD District Chief John Giordano.

All eight residents inside the home did make it out safely.
