Attempted Sexual Assault Reported In Logan Square

CHICAGO (STMW) -- An attempted criminal sexual assault was reported Monday morning in the Northwest Side Logan Square neighborhood.

About 9:15 a.m., a 24-year-old woman was walking east in the 2900 block of West Lyndale Street when an unknown man approached her and asked for directions, according to an alert Chicago Police.

The woman kept walking east, and the man then grabbed the bottom of her dress, pulled it up and made "inappropriate physical contact with his hand," police said. The woman turned around and yelled and there was a brief struggle. The man then ran off west on Lyndale.

He was described as Hispanic, between 18 and 25 years old, standing 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-6. He has a thin build and a dark olive complexion, police said. He was wearing a navy blue t-shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information on the assault is asked to call Area North detectives at (312) 744-8200.
