At Oak Park Christmas Tree Lot, Everything Must Go

(CBS) -- When did you get your Christmas tree -- last week? The Friday after Thanksgiving?

Believe it or not, some folks put it off until Thursday, Christmas Eve.

CBS 2's Vince Gerasole reports.

On a quiet corner Christmas tree lot in Oak Park, sales manager Tony Foley's still swept up in the season.

"Everything you see here in six hours will be gone. We are taking it all down," he says.

Sand Hill Farms sold a record 1,500 trees since Thanksgiving. But on Christmas Eve, understandably they'll barely break a dozen.

After three years, the holiday tree business has grown on Tony .

"I love the work, because the trees smell great. That's the best part of the job is coming home. You don't need a cologne. You can just smell like Christmas trees all day," he says.
