Man Shot, Killed At Blue Island Gas Station

BLUE ISLAND, Ill. (CBS) -- A man was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon at a gas station in Blue Island.

Blue Island police said at 3:21 p.m., they were called to the Shell station at 11901 S. Western Ave., just outside the Chicago city limits, for a gunshot victim.

The found a man on the property with a gunshot wound.

Paramedics rushed the man to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Police called the shooting an isolated incident. The Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services Unit and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force were called in to assist with the investigation.

The victim's identity was not being released late Tuesday pending family notification.
