Man Charged With Fatal Stabbing In Ashburn

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man has been charged with stabbing a 51-year-old man to death in the Ashburn neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

Chadwick Perkins, 26, was charged with one count of first degree murder, according to Chicago Police.

About 5:10 a.m. Aug. 3, Michael Montgomery was stabbed multiple times in the upper body during a domestic dispute at his home in the 3900 block of West 85th Street, police and the Cook County medical examiner's office said. Perkins lives in the same block as the stabbing.

Montgomery was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead at 7:34 a.m., the medical examiner's office said. An autopsy Thursday found he died of multiple sharp force injuries and his death was ruled a homicide.

Perkins was taken to Christ for a psychological evaluation, police said.

He was held without bond, and his next court date is Aug. 24, according to the Cook County sheriff's office website.
