As Trump VP Rumors Swirl, Indiana's Pence Faces Another Deadline

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The governor of Indiana has a Friday deadline that could force his and Republican candidate Donald Trump's hands on a potential vice-presidential nominee.

Mike Pence is considered one of Trump's finalists for a running mate.

However, Pence would need to declare by noon Friday whether he wants to continue to run for governor, WBBM Political Editor Craig Dellimore reports.

Pence is facing John Gregg in November.

Trump has said he may wait until the July 18-21 GOP convention in Cleveland, meaning "Pence will have to roll the dice," professor Andy Downs at Indiana University-Purdue University in Fort Wayne said.

Also Monday, Democrat Barron Hill dropped out of the U.S. Senate race against Todd Young.

There are reports that former Sen. Evan Bayh, with a $9 million campaign war chest, may run against Young instead.
