Artist's Pillow Exhibit Draws Attention To Plight Of Undocumented Immigrants

(CBS) -- Artist Alejandro Figueredo Diaz-Perera sews eight pillows a day, as part of the "Soul Asylum" exhibit.

He is hoping to reach his goal of 34,000--a number he says represents the number of undocumented immigrants arrested each day in America.

The pillow materials comes from the clothing of undocumented immigrants in Chicago. There are workshops twice a week during which people can help create more pillows.

The pillows will be on view in the exhibition Soul Asylum at Weinberg/Newton Gallery, 300 W Superior St., until March 26.
