Another Winter Storm Bears Down On Chicago
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Lost in the Super Bowl hype was the fact that the groundhog says we will have six more weeks of winter.
Whatever. It does seem like this winter feels like the Bill Murray movie. In "Groundhog Day," Murray's character experiences the same day over and over again.
Well, another winter storm is heading our way, just on the heels of the weekend "snow event."
A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Tuesday for Northwest Indiana and the southern portion of the viewing area, and CBS 2's Megan Glaros said she wouldn't be surprised if that gets elevated to a Winter Storm Warning.
A system that is currently in California will make its way to our area on Tuesday afternoon and drop as much as 2-6 inches of snow in some spots by the time it ends Wednesday morning.
The city and points north won't see that much. The city may get 2 to 5 inches, while the northern suburbs may get 2-3 inches, possibly less.
The southern suburbs and Northwest Indiana will get more snow, perhaps six inches or more. The potential for heavier amounts exists even farther to the south in places like Kankakee.
Officially, this past weekend's storm brought four inches of snow to O'Hare. However, Northwest Indiana got 7-8 inches, while Pontiac, Ill., led the way with 10 inches.
