Amtrak Train Hits Truck In Joliet

CHICAGO (CBS) -- An Amtrak train bound for St. Louis had to be towed back to Chicago on Friday, after hitting a semi-trailer truck in southwest suburban Joliet.

Amtrak confirmed Lincoln Service Train 303 hit the back of a trailer truck at a crossing in Joliet around 10:30 a.m.

The truck driver was not hurt, and none of the 144 passengers on the train was injured.

Amtrak said they believe the gates at the crossing were active at the time.

The train was being towed back to Chicago. Passengers were given the option of taking a bus the rest of the way to St. Louis, or going back to Chicago to wait for a later train.
