Alderman Tunney Open To Moving Pride Parade Downtown

(CBS) -- Alderman Tom Tunney, whose 44th ward includes Boystown and the route of the Pride Parade, says he is open to the possibility of moving the parade downtown.

Why move the Pride Parade?

"We hear from our residents that they don't feel safe in their neighborhood - that there is too much... alcohol and partying all night long."

Alderman Tom Tunney says he has asked to look at other options for the parade's location.

"If there is an option to go downtown, will that make the conduct of the fans more reasonable? I'm not afraid to look at it."

WBBM spoke with Tunney as he and others were still cleaning up - 24 hours after the parade.

Chicago Police say eight people were arrested during the parade, including one man accused of damaging a police vehicle.

This year's parade drew a crowd of one million.
