'Age-Progressed' Photo Created Of Aurora Boy Who Disappeared Three Years Ago

(CBS) – It was three years ago this week that Aurora boy Timmothy Pitzen disappeared at the age of six.

CBS 2's Suzanne Le Mignot reports investigators hope a new image of the child will lead to new clues in the case.

The age-progressed photo gives us a look at what Timmothy would look like today, at the age of nine.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children created a photo and a new video about the case.

"Without any kind of logic to give you, I can just tell you, I know that he's alive," the boy's aunt, Kara Jacobs, says in the video.

Surveillance video captured the last time Pitzen was seen. It was 10:10am on May 13, 2011. He and his mother, Amy, were checking out of a Wisconsin resort.

The next day, she was found dead in a Rockford motel, a suicide. Amy had been having difficulties in her marriage and was suffering from depression. There was no sign of Timothy.

"Amy would never hurt her child. I know that's hard for some people to grasp, given what she did to herself, but she just wouldn't have. She had nothing but kindness and consideration for other people in her life," Jacobs says.

Investigators say Pitzen's mother left a note. In it, she said Timmothy was safe. He was with someone who loved him and, she said, he would never be found. They believe his mother may have given him to a family to take care of him.
