ADA Annual Walk Participants Hope To Help Stop Diabetes

(CBS) -- The annual American Diabetes Association Step Out And Walk at Didier Farms stepped off on Sat., Sept. 25, with many participants, one, 15-year-old Jared Kuper, who's affected by diabetes and is an ADA advocate.

"We all want to do the same thing. We all want to find a cure," he told CBS 2's Marissa Bailey.

He said the association has supported him in many ways.

"When I was in the hospital first getting diagnosed, the first thing that I saw was the ADA, and they were really supportive of me," Jared says. "And they're really high on education, which is such a big deal for me...letting everyone know about it so that we can ultimately find a cure."

The American Diabetes Association will have a Diabetes walk on Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. at Montrose Harbor, 601 W. Montrose Ave.
