2 Police Officers Among Those Injured In Crash That Shut Down Northbound Lake Shore Drive Through Hyde Park

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Northbound traffic on Lake Shore Drive near the Museum of Science and Industry and north through Hyde Park was closed late Thursday, after a car accident in which two police officer sand a third person were hurt.

The crash happened at 5:05 p.m. on Lake Shore Drive near 57th Drive. A squad car was rear-ended as officers investigated a traffic accident, police said.

Two police officers -- at 35-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman -- were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, according to the Fire Department. Police said both were in good condition.

Another woman was taken to the same hospital in fair-to-serious condition, according to the Fire Department

The accident shut down the northbound Drive at 57th Drive to 47th Street during the evening rush Thursday, according to the Office of Emergency Management and Communications.

Traffic was backed up as far south as Marquette Drive.
