About 1,600 Affected By Downtown Power Outage

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Service was restored early Thursday to the 1,600 ComEd customers who were left without power after an outage downtown near Lake Shore East Park Wednesday night.

The outage occurred at 10:05 p.m. and affected the area between Michigan Avenue and Lake Shore Drive and between Wacker Drive and Monroe Street, ComEd spokeswoman Krissy Posey said. Approximately 1,600 customers were affected, although power was fully restored by 2:50 a.m. Thursday.

While an alert on ComEd's website initially said the outage may have been caused by damaged power lines, Posey said the cause remained under investigation Thursday morning.
