86-Year-Old Woman Killed In Oak Brook Crash

(STMW) -- An 86-year-old woman was killed in a crash Tuesday morning in west suburban Oak Brook.

The crash happened in the eastbound lanes of 31st Street near I-294 at 11:27 a.m., according to a statement from Oak Brook police.

A red Ford Escort was disabled in the right lane and a vehicle in that lane made a sudden lane change, police said. A white GMC Sierra behind that vehicle struck the disabled Ford.

The driver of the Ford, an 86-year-old Brookfield woman, was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead, according to police. Her name was not released Tuesday afternoon.

The other driver, a 27-year-old Villa Park man, was not seriously hurt and taken to a hospital for evaluation.

The crash remains under investigation.
