Overnight Shooting On 606 Trail Leaves One Dead In Logan Square

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A shooting on the 606 Trail in Logan Square has left one man dead and two others injured, according to police.

Three people were walking on the west end of the path near Monticello around midnight. They were approached by three men who asked what their gang affiliation was before opening fire, police said.

The man who was killed was a 22-year-old father. Police have identified him as Alejandro Aguago.

A woman, 19, is in critical condition, and a 20-year-old man is in stable condition.

Police said the gunmen ran off heading east after the shooting.

No one is in custody.

The shooting has caused concern among neighbors, who said the recreational area should be safer.

"I love it out here," Linda Castillo said. "That's crazy because it's right next to the kid's place too. That's terrible. I probably won't walk here anymore. This is a neighborhood that hasn't always been the best. It's up-and-coming, but it has yet to get there."
