5-Year-Old Girl Shot, Seriously Wounded In West Englewood

(STMW) -A 5-year-old girl—who was not the intended target—was shot and seriously wounded Sunday night in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

The girl was outside about 8:40 p.m. when two people started fighting in the 5600 block of South Bishop. One of them pulled a gun and opened fire, according to Chicago Police.

A bullet struck the girl in the leg, and she was taken to Comer Children's Hospital, where she remained in serious condition Monday morning, according to police. Police had originally said the girl was 6.

The shooter took off in a white SUV, police said.
