Teen seriously injured in mass shooting on Chicago's South Side

Five people were injured in a mass shooting in Chicago's Bronzeville neighborhood early Monday morning. 

According to Chicago police, officers responded to a call for a large disturbance in the 3600 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue just after 1 a.m. While responding, officers heard gunfire nearby. 

Police relocated and found multiple people with gunshot wounds. 

The victims range in age from 17 to 36 years old. 

Police said the 17-year-old was listed in critical condition at the University of Chicago Medical Center. 

The other four victims were listed in fair and good condition with gunshot wounds to the legs and arms. A 36-year-old woman was taken to Northwestern Hospital, and the other victims are being treated at the University of Chicago Medical Center. 

Police said four firearms were recovered from the scene. 

Detectives are questioning a person of interest, police confirmed. 

3 mass shootings reported over Labor Day weekend 

This marks the third mass shooting in Chicago this holiday weekend. 

On Saturday, around 11:10 p.m., seven people were shot in the 3500 block of South State Street, just around the corner from Chicago Public Safety Headquarters, also in the Bronzeville neighborhood.

Police said a vehicle with multiple men inside went down the block, and at least one of the men opened fire on a crowd. Two women and five men were wounded.  

Early Sunday morning, four people were wounded in a drive-by shooting in Chicago's Humboldt Park neighborhood. 

police were called to the 2700 block of West Haddon Avenue and learned multiple men drove past in two vehicles, and several of the men opened fire at people standing outside.  

Three women and a man were struck.

No arrests have been made.
