3 Wounded In Aurora Shooting
AURORA, Ill. (STMW) -- A shooting in west suburban Aurora left three people injured early Sunday morning, police said.
According to Aurora police spokesman Dan Ferrelli, the shooting occurred around 3:13 a.m. Sunday in the 500 block of East Benton Street.
Ferrelli said that a group of people were in the backyard of a home when they were approached by a man with a gun. The shooter fired several shots, striking three people.
All three victims were Aurora men. Ferrelli said a 21-year-old and an 18-year-old victim were both shot in the thigh, while a 27-year-old was shot in the foot.
Police said the shooter just walked up the driveway toward the group and began shooting.
The 27-year-old victim ran to an apartment building in the 400 block of Clark Street and had a resident call 911. Ferrelli said the 18-year-old victim also ran to a residence for help.
The shooting does not appear to be random, and police have not ruled out that is could be gang-related, Ferrelli said.
Police are also investigating another shooting that occurred just hours before Sunday morning's Benton Street incident.
Ferrelli said police were called to the 400 block of South State Street around 11:45 p.m. after reports of shots fired.
No one was injured, and nothing appears to have been struck, Ferrelli said. It is unknown if the two shootings are related.
