3 Hospitalized After Partial Ceiling Collapse At NW Side Concert

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Three people were hospitalized – one in serious condition – following a ceiling collapse early Saturday on the Northwest Side in the Logan Square neighborhood.

The collapse happened about 1:25 a.m. on the third floor at Concord Music Hall, 2047 N. Milwaukee Ave., a spokeswoman for the Chicago Fire Department said. One man was transported to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in serious condition while the other two were taken to Presence Resurrection Medical Center in good condition, the spokeswoman added.

The ceiling collapsed during a performance by the DJ Datsik, concert attendees told reporters at the scene.

Meanwhile, a statement posted Saturday on Concord Music Hall's website said it has "voluntarily decided to close the rest of the weekend to properly evaluate the situation."

The statement went on to say that one music event has been cancelled as a result of the ceiling collapse and that two others have been moved.
