20-Year-Old Man Critically Wounded In West Englewood Shooting

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 20-year-old man was critically wounded in a shooting Wednesday morning in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

The man was a passenger in a vehicle heading west about 11:40 a.m. in the 1900 block of West 59th Street when a red SUV pulled up and someone inside opened fire, according to Chicago Police.

He was shot in the left hand and suffered a graze wound to the head, and was driven in critical condition to Holy Cross Hospital, police said.

He was transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member.
