2 Women Shot On Northwest Side

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two women were shot in the Belmont Central neighborhood early Friday on the Northwest Side, leaving one critically hurt.

About 12:15 a.m., they were riding in a vehicle going south in the 2400 block of North Meade when they heard gunfire, according to Chicago Police.

One woman, 19, was shot in the neck and taken in critical condition to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. The other, 18, was shot in the abdomen. Her condition was stabilized at the same hospital, police said.

The shooting was thought to be gang-related.
