2 Oreo Cookie Flavors Recalled Over Undeclared Milk Allergen

(CBS) -- East Hanover, New Jersey-based Mondelez Global has recalled two flavors of its Oreo  cookies, due to an undeclared milk allergen in the ingredient list.

The company announced on Oct. 28 that it recalled the Original and Mit varieties of the Oreo Fudge Cremes, and is "taking this action out of an abundance of caution." The products are sold in the U.S., including the U.S. Territories of Puerto Rico, St. Croix and St. Thomas.

You'll notice the potential milk presence by an allergen advisory statement on the label, company officials said, in which it states, "Manufactured on equipment that processes milk..."

If people with an allergy or sensitivity to milk consume the product, they may risk serious or life-threatening allergic reactions. As of Oct. 28, at least one allergic reaction had been reported related to one of the recalled products.

The company suggests consumers who have the product not eat it and discard any products matching the description. Customers may also contact the company at (855) 535-5948.
