2 Men Critically Hurt In Crash With Firetruck In West Rogers Park

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two men were critically injured when the vehicle they were in hit a firetruck early Saturday in the West Rogers Park neighborhood on the North Side. Two firefighters also suffered minor injuries.

About 2:55 a.m., a 21-year-old man was driving a Chevrolet northbound in the 6500 block of North Ridge when the vehicle veered into the southbound lanes for an unknown reason, according to Chicago Police.

The Chevrolet then struck a southbound firetruck, according to police and Chicago Fire Department officials. The collision caused the firetruck to collide with a parked car.

The driver and his passenger, a 22-year-old man, were both taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston in critical condition, authorities said.

Two firefighters were also taken to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, one in good condition and the other in fair-to-serious condition, according to fire officials. They were treated and released.
